Cubism

I once put God and faith in a box, bound by laws and rules that seemed everywhere. I believed I had to be perfect to earn His approval and love. When I didn’t get what I wanted, I felt rejected and rejected Him in return. If God truly wanted me to be happy, wouldn’t He give me what I desired?

As I painted Jesus through the lens of Cubism, I realized that God's commands are not limitations on our happiness, but rather expressions of His love. His instructions, given in mercy, are meant to guide us along the fruitful path in our free will. We are given the gift of free will, but having everything we want doesn’t guarantee happiness. The boundaries God sets are not walls; they are guardrails that keep our souls and lives in harmony close to him.

Experimenting with a new painting technique was a leap of faith, with no formula—only trust and step-by-step progress. Just as Cubism challenges traditional perspectives, I had to let go of my boxed-in understanding of God. His nature transcends our limited comprehension. No single perspective or structure can fully capture His essence—He is far greater than I ever imagined.

“So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith— that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:17-19
